Functional Reflex Therapy (FRT) Training

What is Functional Reflex Therapy?

Functional Reflex Therapy (FRT) is a structured positive touch routine developed by Lorraine Senior, a UK-qualified teacher and reflexologist who spent more than 20 years supporting children and young people with additional support needs and their families.

Drawing on her experience in both education and therapeutic settings, Lorraine developed FRT to provide a simple, predictable relaxation routine that could be safely delivered within schools, care environments and family settings.

FRT is a short, rhythmical routine delivered to the hands (or feet) using a sequence of eight structured techniques applied to general reflex areas. The routine is gentle, repetitive and designed to be easy for practitioners, parents and carers to learn and use consistently.

Because the routine is structured and predictable, it can be introduced as part of a regular wellbeing practice within education, care and home environments.

Taking part in Functional Reflex Therapy may:

• Support emotional regulation

• Encourage focus and engagement

• Promote connection and interaction

• Provide a calming sensory experience

Functional Reflex Therapy is now delivered in a range of settings including schools, early years environments, care services and family support programmes.

Pathway2Wellbeing is an Approved FRT Rainbow Relaxation Programme Trainer for Schools, delivering professional training and workshops across Scotland.
